Our first school fieldtrip

My FAVORITE thing about homeschooling my kids is the amazing things I get to experience with them that we would not ordinarily get to do.
We had a great time on our first field trip of the school year. We went to two beautiful wetlands in San Diego. The kids learned this week what the wetlands do for our environment and what animals live there. We even made a wetland at home to see how it functions.
Andrew had a great time looking for birds and identifying them.....He alway's finds a "grandma" wherever we go....this lady was so sweet to show him a bird and tell him how to see it better in the binoculars!!!

It was so peaceful and beautiful....

We had amazing tour guides at both sites that were VERY knowledgable on what it was we were seeing and describing the animals and plants!!

The kids all had a great time!!!

This was the second site....it looked so different from the other wetland...the reeds were so dense and tall...it was a little creepy thinking what was in there and looking at you!!!

Andrew's first baseball game

Andrew had his first game of fall ball. He is on the Dodgers AGAIN!!! He loves it and it is so amazing how different he is playing since spring ball. He is growing taller and making bigger plays!!! He got to play a little first base, which was fun for him and he made some great plays!!!
Andrew is a great hitter this year...he is using a bigger bat (thanks Uncle Nate) and is almost hitting the ball out of the park!!

Of course his favorite position is still catching...he is so unafraid of the ball with all the gear and catches most of the balls!!!

Here he is in his uniform!!! So cute!!!

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the kids....I am still learning how to post to my blog, so my pics are SO OUT OF ORDER..haha..but we will start from the last and end at the beginnning..

This is Kiki's new classroom. It is so amazing!!! Our classrooms last year were very open and loud....our new building has "traditional classrooms" and such a different feel. Kiki did great..I thought she was going to lose it right before class started, but she didn't....she seems so big now!! I am sure it is going to take adjusting to the quiet around the house without the kids here....we had such an amazing summer that I am sad to see it end, but so excited for the school year!!! Kiki's best friend Mia is in her class which made adjusting easier....ALSO, her teacher (Miss Miltenberger) sang the "goodmorning" song from Kiki's preschool with the kids as the goodmorning song....Kiki's eyes lit up when she recognized the song....it was so cute!!!
Andrew has another year with Miss Lipman (2nd grade)...we love her so much!!! He is so excited to be back at school!! I can remember the days of so many tears dropping him off at school, BUT now he is so big and grown up!!! He got in line with his class and walked right in.....it was funny, I yelled across the playground.."bye Andrew, have a great day" and he looked SO EMBARRASED and just gave me a half wave...haha we have come so far!!! He was so cute today in his new Tony Hawk shirt too....He just looked so grown up!!!

This is Kiki with her teacher Miss Miltenberger!!!

Well, what can I say about my young teen Alexis....She looked SO GROWN UP this morning on her way to 6th grade!!! She had a DARLING outfit on that she was so proud of and looked like a young adult!!! I didn't hardly even get to say goodbye to her, she bolted at the gate to find her group of friends!!! I didn't even get a pic with her teacher...she is so over me...hahaha.....I even caught her making fun of my with my camera!!! She grew up so much this summer. I noticed a HUGE shift in her that I guess girls make going into middle school!!! She spent a lot of time on her own in her room dancing and READING (she read 14 books (thick too)) and what ever else...she is just growing up to fast!!!

Then there is Andrew!!! He looked so cute this morning!!!

Kiki's backpack was as big as her!!! haha...she wore sparkle jeans and a red t-shirt that said "I love earth"...she was just darling!!!

Here we are in front of our new school...I will post later today to tell you about their tales of the first day of school!!!
